Beaches in Istria

Many will want to discover the 536 km sea coast. In Istria, being a peninsula, the sea is never far away. Most of this coast has beaches suitable for swimming. On the West coast, protected from the Bura wind, you will find most of the tourist beaches.

This coast is also dotted with historical Venetian port towns as Umag, Novi Grad, Porec, Rovinj, Vrsar and Pula. The South Point of Istria is an amazing natural resort, where one can enjoy a unique flora. The East Coast is rough, with cliffs and mountains, which rise high from the azure coloured sea. At its North this coast suddenly becomes an Istrian Riviera, with fashionable coastal resorts as Opatja.

Whether you choose hidden coves with white pebbles, small or larger bays, or rocky sun-drenched fragrant reefs, the pure and intact Istrian beaches are true wonders of nature. 40 Istrian beaches are marked by "blue flags", given only to the best beaches in Europe with clean water and high ecological prestige. And for those wanting more, there is plenty of opportunity for diving, surfing, sailing or for renting a jetski. For those less sportive, book a boat trip on a romantic pirate boat to one of the islands before the coast.
